"Caleecy! Caleecy!"
The girl was shouting her name through the corridor and so she cursed her best friend Alex for having introduced her in the first place. While Alex loved to tend to his social life, Caleecy, on the contrary, liked to keep to herself and to be left alone, yet she found herself in the middle of the spotlight more often than not. Alex once had said that her good looks and her attitude bought her that attention, but she never really understood what he had meant by that.
Trying hard to ignore the squeaky voice, Caleecy fought her way through the crowd to the second floor. Since everyone was allowed to choose their own classes, so that they could profit from an education they needed to survive in the magical world, there were more or less popular courses. History of the Lost World was located on the so called "ghost" floor and to be true, only two people had taken it besides her, Alex being one of them.
Flopping down in one of the chairs in the empty room, she didn't wait for the others to arrive, but simply took out her folder and, after asking for directions from Mr. Fang, started working on the chapter concerning the blood rite in different religious offerings.
"Caleecy! Caleecy!"
Closing her eyes, she inhaled deeply, before setting up a bad fake smile and turning to the girl, that seemed to have followed her.
"What?", she said all too sweetly on an exhale, trying to convey the girl how much it bothered her to speak to her. Caleecy saw the red creeping up the girl's cheek, as she squirmed under her glare and hastily turned away to flee the room. She heard the girl collide with someone outside, muttering a nervous "sorry", before disappearing completely.
"How often do I have to tell you not to scare them away?", Alex nearly choked on laughter as he stared after her. "You know, even the newbies start calling you "The Ice Princess"!"
"Ah? Do they?", she grinned at him, looking as innocent as she could in the skinny black jeans and the red top that sticked to her curves, hugging her skin in all the right places.
"You're unbelievable! You're even less sociolizable than a vampire!", he reprimanded her sarcastically.
"Should I be offended?"
They both shared glances, before breaking into laughter again.
Sitting down beside her, Alex started to tell her about the new gossip, that she missed out on in her so isolated life, while quickly scribbling some notes onto a paper to prove that he had worked on a minimum of things. Changing topics as quickly as some girls skiped between boyfriends, it didn't take long for her to lose his train of thoughts, yet one thing caught her attention.
"Zane said what?!", she exclaimed, earning an angry "sh!" from Mr. Fang and a miffed glare from Alex.
"Didn't you listen?", he sounded mildly offended, but grinned only seconds later, when he saw real interest flickering in her eyes.
"Zane said that he would make you his! Unbelievable, isn't it?! That jerk thinks that he could warm your icy heart and as he so elegantly put into words: " fuck your brains out"!"
As Alex lost himself in his babbling again, she couldn't help but shake her head in disgust.
Even though Zane was known to be a player, many girls were swooning at his feet, fighting over his attention like hens were fighting over corn. Caleecy herself had to admit, that he kind of had the looks, but she wasn't fooled by his tuff guy act, that hid his vicious soul.
"He only wants to hurt Alex.", she whispered to herself, tasting the truth on her lips. Zane wasn't the first one to try to kick Alex off his throne, but he was the only one so dumb to think, that he could reach his goal through her.
