An Ode to Joan

This is a song

For one who I’ll never reach;

A goddess in her might,

Though swift and free

As the ever changing wind.

Not silk or velvet

Does she wear;

Instead in shiny steel

She keeps to be wrapt.

My lady does

Neither sing nor dance

But to the rhythm of the blades.

Each move she makes with honor

And proudly she will raise

Her sword and voice

Above the crowd

`Till the last man’s down.

Her hand has never touched

The petals of a rose,

For she herself

Is a flower on the battlefield

So for now and ever on;

Whereever the path her takes

I’m suppost to follow her;

And I will serve my lady

With all the love

My heart can give.
